Her Majesty The Queen
London SW1A 1AA
I write on behalf of the Lutheran Church in Great Britain and the Council of Lutheran Churches to express our deepest sympathy on hearing of the death of your husband HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip has been a symbol of stability and steadfastness for these many years. In particular, the witness of your marital love and Christian fidelity has been an inspiration to many both in this nation and around the world. His loss is deeply felt by so many as I am sure it is by you too.
The pain of parting can be so very difficult to comprehend. Yet, by faith we hold onto the promise of life in Christ Jesus Our Lord and know that this pain is only temporary as we wait in trusting faith.
Please know, during this trying time, that you are very much held in our prayers as a Church and particularly in my own.
With all my prayers, I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant.
Pax & Bonum
The Right Reverend Bishop Tor B. Jørgensen
